One of the best things about photographing people is getting to know them!

I’m not going to lie, I love chatting, I could talk to anyone – about anything almost anytime (just not before 7am folks!) 

Armed with a camera you immediately have an insight into people’s personalities.  For instance are they shy, funny, serious, nervous?  I like to drive or walk with people for a bit, chat to them on the phone, get to know what it is they really want from their pictures, what story are they telling/wanting to tell. What are their hobbies, interests, jobs etc. We talk not stop and I just love the moment “the guard drops” and you get to see the real them, the moment when the smile becomes natural, the shoulders relax and the laughter flows. The moment you see the flair or passion in their eyes as they talk to you about something or someone they care deeply about. That’s when I get my best shots, the magic moments, the natural interaction between families, lovers or pets. The shots my clients love, as inevitably do their family, their friends … it’s the ones that show people clearly that is the reason they fell in love with you in the first place either as a, husband, a wife or a best friend. 

We all had so much fun on this project, it was a dual location shoot… first off we headed to the woods and then down to our local beach for the great “Jumping off the breakwater challenge”. They were such good sports, so incredibly easy to work with and I think the results speak for themselves .. they look like they are having a good time …because they were.

There is never a dull moment for me in photography…. Always something new to see, to find, a different angle, a fresh approach.. a new challenge.
